This bread is typically eaten in Alentejo region, situated in Center-South of Portugal.
The slow fermentation of this bread and the use of natural yeast gives it a sour-like taste. The dough is fermented for 24 hours and baked in very hot temperature which makes the perfect crust.
Delicious to eat just plain with butter or on the side with soup. For a suggestion: press it on a toaster with cheese, the cheese will melt and the bread will become crispy.
